SAL Lifts 20 Suction Piles

Liebherr’s wire luffing ship cranes (type CBB 4700-450) were put to good use on SAL Heavy Lift’s vessel while loading 20 suction piles onboard.

The suction piles have a length of up to 21 metres and weigh up to 160 tonnes.

They will be part of the permanent mooring of the Coral-Sul FLNG Floater in Mozambique, where they will be installed at a water depth of 2,000 metres.

Over the next few years, this floater will extract natural gas from an offshore field in the Indian Ocean and process it into liquid natural gas (LNG) on site.
