Since 2024, Sarens has been providing daily crane support for maintenance operations at the PTT Global Chemical ME (PTTGC ME) site in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, under a long-term rental agreement.
Operating under a Yearly Contract, the agreement ensures that PTT Global Chemical ME receives continuous access to mobile lifting solutions tailored to the evolving demands of a high-traffic industrial facility. Located in the bustling industrial zone of Rayong province, the GCME site is one of Thailand’s key petrochemical production hubs.
Sarens’ involvement focuses on delivering fast and flexible lifting services using a dedicated fleet of mobile cranes, ranging in capacity from 25 to 70 tonnes. These cranes were selected for their ability to operate efficiently in confined spaces and for their fast deployment times—critical for a site where timing and safety are non-negotiable.
Instead of mobilizing equipment for each request, Sarens has stationed a crane full-time on-site. This setup eliminates delays, allowing maintenance teams to request and execute lifts within short timeframes. It’s a move that’s cut down lead times significantly and provided PTTGC ME with the agility required to keep operations moving without disruption.
Tasks include lifting mechanical components such as pumps, valves, and pipe sections, many of which require precise handling due to space limitations. Each lift is planned with meticulous attention to the surrounding environment. With minimal margin for error, Sarens’ safety-first approach includes detailed risk assessments, crane specification reviews, and deployment of certified lifting personnel.
Though the daily workload is dynamic, all operations are handled by a single experienced crane operator. This streamlined approach has proven effective for the repetitive but critical nature of the job, allowing for consistency in both execution and safety compliance.
The operator, backed by Sarens’ central logistics support and engineering team, ensures all lifts follow PTTGC ME’s safety protocols. Since the contract’s inception, the operation has reported no safety incidents, reinforcing the importance of experienced crew, reliable machinery, and clear communication between contractor and client.
The client has reported satisfaction with the system’s reliability and adaptability. Notably, the cranes have maintained top mechanical performance despite the constant use, highlighting the value of regular maintenance and proactive on-site support.
Sarens was chosen for the contract based on a competitive tender and its global reputation in the heavy lifting sector. The company’s ability to localize operations while maintaining international standards has made it a trusted partner across numerous high-stakes projects in the energy, petrochemical, and infrastructure sectors.
