Sarens, the global leader in heavy lifting and engineered transport, successfully completed the transportation of an Airbus A321 aircraft fuselage at Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan. The project, carried out in May 2024, was in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, marking a significant achievement in logistics coordination for the region.
The operation took four days and involved a meticulous planning process. Sarens deployed a Shacman truck and a Faymonville 4-axle trailer to load and transport the fuselage. The challenge lay not only in the size of the Airbus, but also in navigating through the city with minimal disruption. Sarens faced difficulties in determining the most efficient route, as obstacles such as bridges, overpasses, and power lines needed to be considered. After thorough route analysis, two pathways with the fewest obstructions were selected.
Precision was crucial in every step of the process. The fuselage, weighing 15.7 tonnes, required careful lifting, with Sarens’ client overseeing the loading operation. Detailed calculations were conducted to ensure safe axle loads, and the convoy’s dimensions were noteworthy, measuring 5.85 meters in height, 4.6 meters in diameter, and a total length of 42 meters. These measurements highlight the complexity of transporting such a large structure through urban areas.
This particular phase focused on the fuselage, but the project is far from over. Sarens will soon undertake the transportation of the aircraft’s wings, further contributing to the success of this major logistical operation. The company’s expertise and coordination with local authorities emphasize its commitment to delivering on challenging and high-profile transport assignments.
The successful transportation of the A321 fuselage is a testament to Sarens’ ability to execute highly complex projects, showcasing its role as a vital partner in global aviation logistics. With more phases of the project ahead, Sarens continues to demonstrate leadership in heavy transport, ensuring the future of Uzbekistan’s aviation infrastructure is well-supported.
