Sarjak Container Lines has appointed Vantage Logistics Corporation as its strategic agency partner in Vietnam, expanding its capacity to handle project cargo, breakbulk and out of gauge shipments across the country.
The agreement combines Sarjak’s international shipping expertise and specialised equipment capabilities with Vantage’s operational network across northern, central and southern Vietnam. The partners will provide coordinated logistics services for industrial and infrastructure projects, with an initial focus on the oil and gas, energy and infrastructure sectors.
The partnership comes as Vietnam attracts manufacturing investment and develops new transport, industrial and energy infrastructure. These projects are creating demand for logistics providers capable of moving oversized equipment, heavy components and other cargo that cannot be handled through standard container services.
Nationwide project logistics coverage
Under the agreement, Vantage will provide local sales, customer support and operational execution throughout Vietnam. Sarjak will contribute its international project logistics experience, ocean freight services and access to equipment designed for unusual cargo dimensions.
The combined service will cover landside transportation, breakbulk shipments, out of gauge cargo, specialised equipment and ocean freight. It will also support multimodal movements where cargo must pass through several transport stages before reaching a construction site or industrial facility.
Such coordination can be particularly important for project shipments. Moving a single oversized component often requires more planning than transporting hundreds of standard containers. Port access, road restrictions, lifting arrangements, permits and vessel schedules must all fit together. If one part of that chain changes, the wider delivery programme can be affected.
Vantage’s presence across Vietnam is intended to give Sarjak stronger control over those local requirements while providing customers with a single coordinated service from origin to final destination.
Industrial investment drives cargo demand
Vietnam’s manufacturing growth and supply chain diversification have increased the volume and complexity of cargo moving through the country. New industrial plants, energy developments and infrastructure programmes require imported machinery and construction equipment, as well as outbound shipments from Vietnamese manufacturers.
Nirav Thakkar, Regional Head for Asia Pacific at Sarjak Container Lines, said Vietnam had become one of Asia’s most important industrial growth markets.
“Strengthening our presence in the country is a natural step in SCL’s Asia Pacific growth strategy,” Thakkar said. “Through our partnership with Vantage Logistics Corporation, we are creating a seamless Vietnam to worldwide destinations that combine global expertise with strong local execution.”
He said the arrangement would allow customers to move complex cargo with greater confidence, efficiency and reliability.
For Sarjak, the appointment provides access to an established local operator without the need to build a nationwide Vietnamese organisation from the ground up. For Vantage, the agreement adds international project shipping expertise and specialised cargo equipment to its domestic logistics capabilities.
Focus on energy and infrastructure cargo
The partnership will primarily serve customers working in oil and gas, energy and infrastructure. Cargo in these sectors can include generators, transformers, pressure vessels, construction modules, drilling equipment and other units that exceed standard container dimensions or weight limits.
Vietnam’s long coastline and regional port system provide several gateways for such movements, but delivery conditions can vary significantly by location. Cargo arriving for a northern industrial development may require a different combination of port handling and inland transport than equipment destined for central or southern Vietnam.
Philip Diep, Chairman of Vantage Logistics Corporation, said continued industrial expansion was increasing the need for logistics providers that combine local knowledge with international project experience.
“Together with Sarjak Container Lines, we are well positioned to support customers with responsive operations, reliable execution and comprehensive logistics solutions that help deliver complex industrial and infrastructure projects across Vietnam,” Diep said.
Vantage is headquartered in Vietnam and provides ocean freight, air freight, customs brokerage, warehousing, multimodal transportation and project logistics services. Its network covers the country’s three main regions.
Sarjak provides breakbulk, out of gauge, heavy lift and multimodal services for customers in the energy, infrastructure, industrial and engineering, procurement and construction sectors. The Vietnam agreement forms part of its strategy to expand in high growth Asian markets through local agency partnerships.
