Second Vessel Arrives in Antwerp for INEOS Project One

The Port of Antwerp has welcomed a second vessel carrying essential components for INEOS Project One, marking another milestone in the development of Europe’s most sustainable ethane cracker. The cargo, delivered by the heavy-lift vessel Mv Fairmaster, consisted of five colossal storage bullets transported from Zhangjiagang, China.

These bullets, critical for the project’s storage and processing infrastructure, form part of a larger shipment orchestrated by deugro UK in partnership with deugro China and deugro Chartering. In total, the five storage bullets arriving aboard the Mv Fairmaster contributed to a staggering 50,572.4 cubic meters of volume, with a combined weight of 6,547.8 metric tons.

Logistics for the delivery were meticulously coordinated, ensuring the project adhered to its tight schedule. Timing has been a key challenge, especially considering the vast size and weight of the cargo. Yet, the coordination between deugro’s international teams has ensured smooth delivery.

deugro UK, a global expert in project freight and logistics, has already successfully delivered the first five storage bullets earlier in the project, showcasing the company’s ability to manage complex logistics chains across continents. With the arrival of the second set of bullets, the project is on track to meet its timeline, ensuring that the construction of the ethane cracker continues as planned.

INEOS Project One, a major step toward Europe’s decarbonization efforts, is touted as the most sustainable facility of its kind, incorporating cutting-edge technology to reduce emissions and enhance energy efficiency. The facility’s development represents a significant investment in sustainable chemical production, with logistics playing a vital role in ensuring that the ambitious goals of the project are met on time.

For a project of this scale, where each component is not only massive in size but also critical to the facility’s operation, the transportation process must be executed flawlessly. deugro’s role in managing these shipments underscores the company’s expertise in handling oversized and specialized freight, a niche within the logistics industry that demands precision and experience.

With the arrival of the second vessel, all eyes are on the discharging process in Antwerp, where the bullets will soon be transferred to the project site. As one of the world’s leading ports for breakbulk and project cargo, Antwerp is the ideal hub for this type of operation. The coordination between the port and deugro ensures a seamless transition from ship to shore, further emphasizing the importance of expert logistics management in large-scale industrial projects.

As construction continues, INEOS Project One remains a critical focus in Europe’s push toward greener industrial solutions, with the successful delivery of these components serving as another step toward that goal.
