Last week, a 42.8 metre long Damen SPa 4207 was officially handed over in Kingston, Jamaica after traveling from the Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam onboard a BBC Chartering ship. It is the second vessel in an order of four, built for the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard.
Earlier this year, FLS Vietnam delivered two new Cape-class Patrol Boats for the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard. Built by Austal Australia, a specialist in naval ships and patrol boats.
“Our main challenge was to find one vessel that could comply with all technical requirements to lift and carry the patrol boats safely, effectively and efficiently. Ultimately, the solution was to fit the patrol boats on BBC Chartering’s Rushmore cargo vessel diagonally as this enabled us to overcome inherent limitations, such as crane outreach, deck size and stability of the vessel.
