Siemens Gamesa has shipped the first B115 offshore wind turbine blades produced at its expanded Le Havre facility in France to the Thor offshore wind project in Denmark, marking the start of deliveries for one of Northern Europe’s largest offshore renewable energy developments.
The shipment represents the first blades manufactured after the company completed the expansion of the Le Havre plant. In total, 63 blades measuring 115 metres each will be produced at the site for the Thor project.
Offshore volumes continue to scale
The Thor offshore wind farm will use 72 SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines with a total installed capacity exceeding 1,000 MW. Once operational, the project is expected to become Denmark’s largest offshore wind installation to date.
For project cargo operators, blade dimensions continue to redefine transport planning. Moving components longer than a football field requires specialised handling, port coordination, and heavy transport equipment at every stage of the supply chain.
