Six Cranes, One Giant Lift: MAX Services and Morgan’s Cranes Tackle Willow Creek Project

A coordinated lift involving six heavy cranes turned heads this week in Willow Creek, where crews from MAX Services and Morgan’s Cranes executed a high-stakes erection of a massive industrial shed without a hitch.

The project, led by MAX Services’ Adelaide crew, saw a rare and complex crane choreography play out on-site—an operation not often witnessed in regional Australia. According to industry professionals watching closely, the scale of the lift and the precision involved stood out, not just for its technical demands, but also for the seamless collaboration it showcased between crane operators, supervisors, and engineering planners.

“Six cranes working in tandem is no small feat,” said one project observer. “Everything has to align—timing, load balancing, site conditions. There’s zero margin for error.”

This particular job relied on the muscle of a powerful fleet: one Tadano ATF130G-5, two Liebherr LTM 1095-5.1s, a Liebherr LTM1090-4.2, a Liebherr LTM1070-4.2, and a Tadano GT600EL. Each unit brought specific lifting capabilities that, when combined, made it possible to safely position and secure the steel structure’s largest components. The use of six mobile cranes simultaneously—each requiring space, communication, and precise load sharing—highlighted the skillset of both companies involved.

While the equipment lineup was impressive, insiders pointed to the human element as the real engine behind the success. The operation was supported by MAX Services’ internal technical team, which prepared a detailed lift plan. Their job: ensure structural integrity under load, prevent swing hazards, and confirm the cranes could safely perform the tandem hoist within the constraints of the build site.

On the ground, supervisors ensured that everyone—from the signalers to the operators—remained in lockstep. These aren’t just checklist roles; they’re critical control points in a lift where any miscommunication can jeopardize safety or damage assets.

The shed itself, described by crew members as “monster-sized,” is intended for heavy industrial use, though neither company disclosed specifics about its client or intended application. That said, the job’s scale underscores a rising trend: increasingly complex logistical builds taking place outside metro centers, where experienced regional crews are stepping into roles that were once dominated by larger, city-based contractors.

For MAX Services, known for tackling oversized loads and unusual lift jobs, this marks another high-profile entry in its growing portfolio of project freight work. Partnering with Morgan’s Cranes, a firm respected for its mid-to-large scale lifting capability, helped ensure the success of the operation.

Both companies have earned reputations for technical rigour and on-site agility—traits becoming more essential as infrastructure demands grow and remote project locations become more common.
