Empire Energy Partners’ Offshore Division has inked a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sarens, the global titan in heavy lifting, transport, and engineering. The partnership is poised to accelerate the development of U.S. offshore wind projects, combining Empire Energy’s expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) with Sarens’ world-renowned capabilities in large-scale heavy lifting.
As offshore wind energy continues to expand in the United States, this strategic collaboration aims to address the growing demand for integrated solutions. By joining forces, Empire Energy Offshore and Sarens plan to deliver a comprehensive “one-stop-shop” for offshore wind developers, simplifying project execution while ensuring safety and efficiency.
Empire Energy Offshore will take the lead as the primary EPC contractor, while Sarens will focus on providing heavy lifting, transport, and technical support. Sarens’ vast experience in offshore wind projects worldwide, including major ventures in Europe, Asia, and the U.S., positions them as a key player in this new venture.
Sarens’ recent involvement in the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Farm—currently the largest in the U.S.—is just one example of their ability to manage massive, complex offshore projects. Their expertise has also been on display in the North Sea and other regions, working with companies like Verbrugge Terminals in the Netherlands, and providing crucial support for offshore projects in Taiwan and South Korea.
“This partnership will allow us to expand our services in the U.S. offshore wind market,” said Mike Milledge, Senior Director of Offshore Wind at Empire Energy Partners. “By working with Sarens, we can offer our clients a full-service solution from start to finish, positioning ourselves as leaders in the renewable energy space.”
Sarens’ Managing Director of Projects USA, Steven Sarens, also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We are excited to collaborate with Empire Energy Offshore to provide our industry-leading heavy lifting and transport solutions to the offshore wind market. By working together, we can offer a seamless, integrated service that will streamline project execution and ensure the success of offshore wind developments in the U.S.”
The partnership signals a new era for U.S. offshore wind projects, where engineering, construction, and logistics come together under a unified approach. This combined effort is expected to meet the growing needs of offshore wind developers, further supporting the United States’ transition to renewable energy.
