Subsea7 and Siemens Energy collaborate to develop new technologies

Subsea7 and Siemens Energy join forces to develop innovative technologies for the floating offshore wind market.

The floating offshore wind market is an emerging business and requires innovation to enable cost-effective and reliable large-scale development. Siemens Energy and Subsea7 are committed to supporting and meeting this challenge.

Building on Siemens Energy’s expertise in electrical systems and subsea connections and Subsea7’s expertise in subsea engineering and offshore construction for the oil and gas and renewable energy markets, the two companies have entered into a joint development agreement for a subsea high-voltage connector and power supply hub specifically for floating offshore wind turbines.

The innovative technology will enable connection of multiple wind turbines into one subsea hub, allowing for more flexibility in Floating Offshore Wind farm architecture and construction. The flexibility offered will contribute to lower CAPEX and higher power availability by enabling efficient maintenance of offshore floating wind systems.

Subsea7 and Siemens Energy believe that collaboration is essential to tackle the challenges of the energy transition and will work together to provide the industry with the next generation of enabling products to unlock the potential of Floating Offshore Wind.
