Subsea7 has announced the award of a significant contract from Serica Energy for the development of the Belinda field in the UK Central North Sea. Located approximately 190 kilometers east of Aberdeen, the Belinda field lies in a water depth of 95 meters. This development represents a key project for both Subsea7 and Serica Energy, focusing on the area southeast of the Triton FPSO.
The scope of the contract includes project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of essential infrastructure. Specifically, Subsea7 will install a 5-kilometer 8” production pipeline with an accompanying 3” piggy-backed gas lift line, and an electro-hydraulic controls (EHC) umbilical. The project also encompasses the installation of associated subsea structures and tie-ins to the Triton Floating Production Storage & Offloading (FPSO) vessel, operated by Dana Petroleum. These tie-ins will be connected via an existing production manifold near the Triton riser base and controls at the Evelyn valve skid.
Subsea7’s Aberdeen office will immediately commence project management and engineering work. Offshore activities are slated to begin in Q3 2025, marking a significant milestone in the development of the Belinda field.
Steve Wisely, Senior Vice President of UK and Global Inspection, Repair and Maintenance at Subsea7, expressed his enthusiasm about the project. “We are pleased to have this opportunity to supply Serica Energy with our EPCI expertise and demonstrate the extensive North Sea knowledge we have amassed over 50 years. We look forward to supporting the safe, efficient, and timely execution of this project.”
This contract underscores Subsea7’s commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient, and safe subsea engineering solutions. The Belinda field project not only highlights Subsea7’s technical capabilities but also its role in advancing energy production in the North Sea, a region with a rich history of offshore oil and gas development.
As the offshore activities ramp up, all eyes will be on the successful implementation of the complex subsea infrastructure that will support the Belinda field’s production. The collaboration between Subsea7 and Serica Energy is set to enhance the operational capabilities and production efficiency of the Belinda field, contributing to the overall energy output from the North Sea.
