The first spherical valves destined for PSP Dinorwig in Wales have reached their final destination. These valves were manufactured by Andritz. Following their departure in January and February, the first two valves arrived safely in April 2023.
Weighing a substantial 160 tons and boasting impressive dimensions, these valves required careful transportation using heavy haulage and special measures across both road and sea routes.
Dinorwig’s six units collectively possess an installed capacity of 1,728 MW, playing a crucial role in maintaining the stability of the British power grid. The spherical valves serve as vital shut-off devices, controlling the water flow to the power plant.
