Tmaz Names New Commercial and Operations Leaders as Cargo Volumes Grow

Terminal Marítima Mazatlán (Tmaz) has strengthened its leadership team with two senior appointments aimed at supporting business growth and improving operational performance at the Mexican multipurpose terminal.

The company announced the appointment of Carlos Alberto Balderas Acosta as Commercial and Business Development Manager, while Gerardo Monreal has been promoted to Operations Manager.

The appointments come as Tmaz seeks to enhance its competitiveness and respond to changing demands across international trade and logistics markets.

Balderas brings more than two decades of experience spanning both public and private sector roles. An industrial engineer graduated from Universidad Cristóbal Colón, he has worked extensively in the logistics, port, automotive, and energy sectors, with a focus on developing commercial strategies and business growth initiatives.

His arrival is expected to strengthen Tmaz’s commercial positioning as ports across Mexico compete for new cargo opportunities and supply chain investments.

Monreal steps into the Operations Manager position after nearly 14 years with Tmaz. During that time, he has gained detailed knowledge of the terminal’s activities and operational requirements.

His experience in process coordination and operational management has centered on improving efficiency, maintaining service continuity, and supporting higher operational standards.

The promotion reflects a strategy often seen across the port sector where experienced internal personnel are elevated to leadership positions to preserve operational knowledge while supporting expansion plans.

According to the terminal’s chief executive officer, the appointments are intended to reinforce leadership in key business areas and support future growth objectives.

Tmaz said the changes will help strengthen its multipurpose terminal capabilities while improving its ability to respond to challenges facing the port and logistics industries.

The terminal handled 1,447,512 tons of cargo during 2025. Throughput included more than 172,000 vehicles and 654,000 tons of steel, highlighting its role as an important gateway for both automotive and industrial cargo flows.

As cargo patterns continue to shift across North America and Latin America, the terminal’s leadership changes position Tmaz to pursue new business opportunities while maintaining operational performance across its diverse cargo portfolio.
