Russia’s national air carrier Aeroflot has announced the decision by Giorgio Callegari, formerly deputy CEO, Strategy and Alliances, to step down to pursue personal interests. The airline has launched a search for his successor.
Callegari joined Aeroflot in 2011, having previously worked for Italy’s Malan Viaggi from 1986 to 1989 and, later, for Alitalia from 1990 to 2011.
Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Savelyev states: “I would like to thank Giorgio for his contribution to Aeroflot’s growth and success as part of the team that has taken Aeroflot to new heights over the past several years.”
Callegari says the decision to leave the aviation industry after some 30 years has not been an easy one: “I am proud of having taken part in writing a new chapter in the history of Aeroflot, and of having helped Russia’s national carrier to grow and to take its rightful position among the world’s leading airlines. Today Aeroflot is stronger than ever before, and I firmly believe that there is more significant growth still to come.”
CargoLogicAir, a specialist British cargo airline owned by Alexey Isaikin, president of Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group, has also confirmed a key management change. Dmitry Grishin, who led the establishment and launch of CargoLogicAir as well as its initial network development, has now handed over his responsibilities to newly-appointed CEO David Kerr, a former American Airlines and Etihad Aviation Group executive.
Grishin contributed significantly to the company’s formation, the airline stresses in a statement, adding that Kerr’s responsibilities will be to focus on further developing CargoLogicAir into a leadership position in the air cargo market through additional fleet expansion and network development.
CargoLogicAir is the only substantial British-registered cargo airline operating widebodied freighter flights from the UK, connecting customers with prime cargo markets around the world. Its fleet currently consists of three freighters: two Boeing 747-400Fs and a single Boeing 747-8F.
