UHL Faith arrived safe and sound at SWT terminal in Hamburg last week for her naming ceremony on Saturday 06 March.
This was the first christening of a heavy-lift vessel in Hamburg in 10 years. Due to weather-related delays, the naming ceremony had to be postponed to 06 March and went ahead as planned this weekend.
UHL took delivery of the newbuilding at the CSSC shipyard in Hudong, China in February 2021 before the vessel set off on her maiden voyage to Hamburg loaded with a shipment of containers.
Due to Covid-related restrictions, the naming ceremony was held for a small group only but many tuned in to watch the live stream and the bottle of champagne smashing against the bow. United Heavy Lift’s headquarters is located in Hamburg’s HafenCity, directly on the riverfront and opposite the assigned discharge terminal.
UHL Faith is the first in a series of eight newbuildings that will strengthen the UHL fleet. The UHL newbuilding programme focuses on advanced and most modern propulsion systems.
UHL Faith is now sailing to the Far East for its next shipment.
