United Wind Logistics Ships First Two Jackets for Changhua TPC

United Wind Logistics (UWL) has successfully completed the first two shipments of jacket foundations for the Changhua TPC Offshore Wind Farm with partners NYK Line and Panocean Limited.

A total of 21 jacket foundations will be shipped from the fabrication yard in Korea to an offshore location off Taichung, Taiwan. There, Heerema Marine Contractor’s MV Aegir is installing the foundations directly from the transport vessels onto the seabed.

The jackets measure between 55 and 62 metres in height and each unit weighs about 1,100 tonnes. Two specialised Heavy Transport Vessels have been chartered to complete the task.

The sophisticated design, fabrication as well as the smooth delivery and installation of grillages on board of the two vessels was successfully completed by UWL’s sister company United Engineering Solutions GmbH.

“The project has been challenging within its different phases and we are very pleased with the sound teamwork from everyone involved” says Head of Projects, UWL, Felix Abendroth.
