The DP2 MultiCat 3713, with the future name ‘Waddenstroom’, is currently being built at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld equipped with a Damen Marine NOx Reduction system and will be delivered 26 October 2023.
This series stands out with an excellent positioning capability due to the innovative propulsion design; two 360 degrees thrusters, one conventional propulsion arrangement in the aft and this combined with two compact jet bow thrusters in the bow. The bollard pull of the vessel is 35t.
With the diesel-electric propulsion system fuel efficiency is ensured, resulting in cost-efficiency. VWMS has chosen for a Damen Marine NOx Reduction System with its advanced active emissions control system using selective catalytic reduction (SCR), to make it IMO Tier III certified.
The vessel will be equipped with two cranes, one on fore deck and one on aft deck, with an SWL of 13.5t at a reach of 18.5m. The combination of these two cranes with the bow and stern rollers makes the vessel multifunctional for anchor handling combined with the towing and tugger winches, bow and stern rollers and towing pins. The vessel provides support both offshore and close to shore due to the low draft of 2.3m.
The MultiCat 3713 design facillitates accommodation for 16 persons. In this series there is cabin space for 10 persons above main deck level, and additional cabins for 6 persons below deck.
Peter van Wijngaarden, Managing Director of Van Wijngaarden Marine Services, says: “As a family owned company we are very pleased with the good cooperation between Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld and our team / crew regarding the ideas and philosophy that form the basis of a vessel that combines a shallow draft and sustainability with high standards of crew welfare and a future-proof propulsion system. All our wishes regarding above are being implemented in this DP2 Multi Cat.”
