Vasiliy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Project Management and Business Engineering. Prior to joining Volga-Dnepr in 2015, he spent five years working for one of Russia’s leading power engineering and construction corporations, responsible for developing relations with existing power and energy clients as well as attracting new customers within the MENA region.

He is the Group’s fourth Global Industry Director, joining:

  • Axel Kaldschmidt has been appointed Global Director, Aerospace Industry
  • Fayçal Boumerkhoufa, Global Director, Oil&Gas Industry
  • Colon Miller, Global Director of Humanitarian, Government & Defence Programmes

Commenting on his new role, he said: “At Volga-Dnepr Group we are constantly developing relationships with OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) in power and heavy machinery in order to learn more about their transportation and logistics challenges. When it comes to power plant unit repairs, for example, time is money so our customers value the fast and reliable response we can deliver.

“In recent years, renewvolga logo1ables have become an important part in governments’ national energy strategies all over the world. We understand our customers’ commitment to diversifying the domestic energy mix with low carbon power generation and are able to support this by providing timely solutions for the transportation of oversize and heavy equipment by air such as hydroturbine runners, compact solar panels and even wind turbine blades.”

To date, Volga-Dnepr’s fleet of An-124-100, IL-76TD-90VD, Boeing 747 and 737 freighters have completed over 1,400 deliveries for customers in the Power & Energy sector, delivering over 76,000 tonnes of cargo. This includes power generation and power transmission and distribution shipments as well as other power plant components such as valves and heat exchangers. The industry contributes some 7% of the Group’s annual revenues. The unique ramp loading capabilities of its freighter fleet means Volga-Dnepr is also the transportation partner of choice for companies moving heavy machinery to support infrastructure projects all over the world.
