Zhen Hua 36 Delivers New Quay Cranes to DP World Antwerp Gateway Terminal

Exciting times in the maritime logistics sector! On Friday, June 21, the massive vessel Zhen Hua 36 made a notable stop at DP World’s Antwerp Gateway terminal, carrying two brand-new quay cranes. Departing from Shanghai in early April, this ship’s journey is a testament to the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of global trade and logistics.

These colossal cranes, now at the heart of the Antwerp Gateway terminal, have the impressive capability to handle up to 26 rows of containers on a ship. This addition marks a significant enhancement, joining the existing fleet of 11 cranes on the east side of the Deurganck dock. Such advancements underscore the continuous efforts to boost efficiency and capacity at one of Europe’s most pivotal ports.

Nawaf Abdulla, the Chief Executive Officer at DP World, couldn’t contain his excitement. “Thrilled to welcome the last two brand-new quay cranes to our DP World Antwerp Gateway terminal,” he shared in a recent post. Highlighting the cranes’ capabilities, Abdulla noted their ability to accommodate the latest generation of vessels, a critical factor in modern maritime logistics.

The investment in these cranes is part of a larger €200 million initiative aimed at enhancing the terminal’s overall capacity, efficiency, and sustainability. This strategic move is set to position the Port of Antwerp-Bruges as a resilient hub, ready to meet future demands and challenges. Abdulla emphasized, “Let’s continue to innovate and grow sustainably at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.”

This development is not just a win for DP World but for the entire logistics and maritime industry, reflecting a commitment to staying ahead in a competitive and fast-paced environment. The introduction of these cranes signifies more than just an upgrade in equipment; it symbolizes the forward-thinking approach of DP World and its dedication to sustainable growth.

The arrival of Zhen Hua 36 and its valuable cargo of quay cranes is a clear indicator of the robust growth and continuous innovation within the maritime logistics sector. It’s a story of progress, ambition, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
