STAVANGER : CoreMarine has acquired Brazilian offshore services company BravOcean, expanding its local presence and subsea construction capabilities as demand for complex deepwater projects grows in Brazil.

The acquisition gives Stavanger based CoreMarine a stronger operating platform in one of the offshore energy industry’s major subsea markets. BravOcean provides subsea installation support, project management and specialist personnel for deepwater subsea, umbilicals, risers and flowlines, known as SURF, projects.

Local capabilities added to offshore business

CoreMarine said the acquisition broadens its service offering by combining its offshore engineering experience with BravOcean’s local project delivery capabilities.

Brazil is a key market in CoreMarine’s longer term growth strategy, with offshore developments creating demand for engineering, installation support and personnel capable of working on technically complex subsea projects.

For offshore contractors, local capability can be as important as engineering capacity. Deepwater projects require companies to coordinate specialist personnel, vessels, equipment and project management while working within Brazil’s regulatory and operational environment.

Ben Fitzgerald, CEO of CoreMarine, said the transaction builds on an existing relationship between the two companies.

“This acquisition marks the next chapter in a relationship built over many years with BravOcean. It also marks our next chapter in Brazil,” Fitzgerald said.

He said combining the companies’ complementary expertise would increase CoreMarine’s local competence and its ability to serve Brazil’s subsea market.

BravOcean joins international platform

BravOcean will bring an established Brazilian presence and experience supporting complex offshore construction projects to the combined business.

Vinicius Vieira, Commercial Director of BravOcean, said joining CoreMarine would allow the Brazilian company to combine its local position with wider international expertise and capabilities.

“BravOcean has always been committed to helping clients successfully deliver complex offshore projects in Brazil,” Vieira said.

The transaction comes as Brazil continues to develop deepwater offshore resources, where subsea infrastructure forms a critical connection between wells, production systems and offshore facilities.

CoreMarine said the expanded Brazilian operation will target rising demand for offshore and subsea construction and project delivery services.
