Swire Projects Executes Successful Transport of YC Bora in Collaboration with Peters & May

In a notable feat, Swire Projects, the projects and heavy lift shipping division of Swire Shipping, recently completed the successful transportation of the YC Bora, a 53-meter fast support and intervention vessel. This achievement underscores Swire Projects’ proficiency in managing complex floating cargo logistics. Partnering with Peters & May, a renowned global yacht transportation and logistics provider, this operation highlights the synergy between the two entities.

The YC Bora, a 275-tonne vessel, required specialized handling for its lift at Walvis Bay, Namibia. Swire Projects offered its Pacific Integrity, a versatile I-Type vessel with a 19,600-deadweight capacity and equipped with two 240-tonne heavy lift cranes, to ensure the safe and efficient transit to Sharjah, UAE. This operation showcased the Pacific Integrity’s capability to handle substantial cargoes with precision.

Namir Khanbabi, General Manager of Swire Projects, expressed pride in the successful execution of this challenging shipment. “We are proud of the execution of this complex vessel shipment, which reinforces Swire Shipping’s commitment to service excellence. The loading of the 275-tonne vessel required careful planning and execution given its substantial size and weight. To ensure the cargo’s stability during transit, a custom transport solution comprising tailored lifting, cradling, and lashing techniques was implemented. The success is a testament to our team’s expertise and dedication to consistently deliver specialized transport solutions with efficiency and precision anywhere in the world,” Khanbabi stated.

Robert Blades, Global Commercial Sales Manager of Peters & May, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of collaboration. “This successful shipment is a testament to the strong collaboration between Peters & May and Swire Projects. Our technical team’s expertise and detailed planning were pivotal in the operation. We shipped across to Walvis Bay one of our custom cradles, specifically designed by our technical team, ensuring the safe and stable transport of the YC Bora. Leveraging Swire Projects’ exceptional heavy lift capabilities allowed us to meet our client’s expectations seamlessly,” Blades commented.

Swire Projects, established in October 2020, has rapidly grown to provide specialist project and heavy lift shipping services to various sectors, including energy, renewable, and infrastructure. By harnessing the collective resources and technical expertise of Swire Shipping and the broader Swire group, Swire Projects delivers efficient and flexible shipping solutions to clients worldwide.
