MSG Krandienst GmbH, a heavy-lift service provider based near Strasbourg on the Alsace-Baden border, is significantly expanding its fleet with cutting-edge Liebherr cranes. This move comes as the company gears up to meet the increasing demands of infrastructure and renewable energy projects throughout the region. The latest acquisition, the LTM 1300-6.3 mobile crane, brings enhanced versatility and performance to MSG’s growing fleet. This addition is expected to be followed by the arrival of the LTM 1650-8.1 in early 2025, marking another strategic investment to bolster the company’s capabilities.

The newly acquired LTM 1300-6.3 is equipped with a 90-meter telescopic boom, making it one of the most advanced cranes in MSG’s fleet. What sets this model apart is its ability to be transported with a 12-ton axle load, offering unmatched road mobility and flexibility in a variety of lifting operations. Managing Director Björn Jatz highlighted that this mobile crane complements their existing fleet, which includes other Liebherr models such as the LTM 1750-9.1 and the LTM 1450-8.1. By adding more LTM 1650-8.1 cranes to the fleet, MSG Krandienst aims to improve the flexibility and efficiency of their large-scale lifting tasks, especially those involving wind turbines and other energy-related projects.
The LTM 1300-6.3’s impressive features extend beyond its mobility. With VarioBase®Plus technology and VarioBallast®, the crane is able to carry out highly specialized lifts, including those required in wind power maintenance. Its various jib configurations, ranging from a double-folding jib to a hydraulically adjustable lattice-type jib, provide MSG with the ability to lift up to 120 meters. This flexibility is particularly beneficial in demanding environments such as the maintenance of wind turbines in challenging terrains like the Black Forest.

MSG’s fleet expansion is in response to the growing need for high-capacity lifts in the renewable energy sector. The company’s involvement in key projects, such as the expansion of the Rhine Valley rail line and wind turbine maintenance across the region, is increasing. Notably, MSG recently used one of its LTM 1650-8.1 cranes to perform a complex operation at an elevation of 1,100 meters in the Black Forest. This crane, equipped with a six-meter boom extension and 155 tonnes of counterweights, successfully removed and reinstalled a blade star on an Enercon E-66 wind turbine, lifting a load of 48 tonnes. Such tasks are becoming increasingly common as the company supports the growing infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.
With 55 Liebherr cranes now in its fleet, MSG Krandienst is positioning itself as a leader in heavy-lift and crane services in the Alsace-Baden region. The company’s investments in advanced equipment reflect its ongoing commitment to meeting the challenges of large-scale infrastructure and energy projects. As MSG continues to expand its fleet and refine its capabilities, it remains well-equipped to serve the evolving needs of the renewable energy sector and beyond.
