Ardmore Shipping, an Irish tanker owner, has announced its decision to deploy an AI voyage optimization tool across its entire fleet. This strategic initiative aims to support Ardmore’s energy transition plan within its tramp business operations.
Partnering with maritime AI specialist Deepsea Technologies, Ardmore Shipping will integrate Pythia, Deepsea’s advanced voyage optimization tool, into its fleet management systems. The decision comes after Ardmore successfully conducted a comprehensive trial of the technology on its vessels, which yielded promising results in terms of fuel consumption reduction and subsequent emissions decrease over a 12-month period.
Ardmore Shipping has been proactively investing in various fuel-saving technologies, including fuel-efficient engines and innovative hull designs, as part of its commitment to sustainability. The integration of Deepsea’s voyage optimization services is expected to complement these existing initiatives, further enhancing the fleet’s operational efficiency.
Ha Eun Ruppelt, Ardmore Shipping’s commercial project manager, emphasized the company’s dedication to innovation and sustainability through this collaboration.
