CMA CGM Adjusts SIRIUS Service Route Amid Brazilian Port Challenges

CMA CGM, a global leader in maritime and logistics services, has announced a temporary adjustment to its SIRIUS service connecting the East Coast of South America with the Mediterranean. Effective from the upcoming voyage of the “MAERSK LEON” (voy. 0NSH3S1MA), the company will suspend its call in Rio de Janeiro SB (BRRIO) from March 14th until July (date to be confirmed).

Operational Challenges Prompt Strategic Change

The decision to suspend the Rio de Janeiro SB call stems from operational challenges and significant congestion at Brazilian ports. The ongoing repairs at Santos BTP Pier 1, following an incident that took the pier out of service, coupled with public works in Navegantes, have placed considerable strain on service reliability.

New Rotation Ensures Service Continuity

In response to the operational constraints, CMA CGM will implement a revised rotation for the SIRIUS service. The new route will be as follows: Algeciras, Tanger, Salvador, Santos, Paranagua, Itapoa, Paranagua, Santos, Itaguai, Tanger, Algeciras. This adjustment aims to navigate the current challenges and ensure a more reliable service for customers.

Customer-Centric Approach

CMA CGM acknowledges the impact of these changes on its valued customers but emphasizes that the decision is essential to maintain service quality during a challenging period. The company expresses gratitude for the continued support of its clientele and anticipates that the adjustments will result in an improved overall service.

As the maritime industry faces dynamic challenges, CMA CGM remains committed to adapting its services to provide effective solutions. The temporary suspension of the Rio de Janeiro SB call reflects the company’s proactive approach to address operational hurdles.
