Eidesvik Offshore to Construct New Low-Emission Vessel for Subsea and Offshore Wind

Eidesvik Offshore ASA, in partnership with Agalas, has sealed a deal to construct a cutting-edge Construction Support Vessel (CSV) tailored for inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) operations. The collaboration underscores a significant stride towards eco-friendly maritime solutions geared for the subsea and offshore wind sectors.

The forthcoming vessel, to be christened Eidesvik Agalas AS, will see Eidesvik assume majority ownership at 50.1%, with Agalas, prominent shipowners based in Northern Norway, holding the remaining shares.

Anticipated for delivery in early 2026, the vessel boasts an estimated construction cost of EUR 81.5 million. Moreover, Eidesvik Agalas AS has secured options for an additional quartet of vessels, projecting an ambitious expansion trajectory.

Funding for the project will be a blend of equity from both stakeholders and approximately 70% debt financing sourced from Sparebank 1 Nord-Norge and Eksfin. Eidesvik’s equity portion will be financed from existing reserves.

Upon finalization, the vessel is slated to embark on a 3 to 5-year charter with Reach Subsea, with Eidsvik spearheading its full operational management.

Gitte Gard Talmo, CEO & President of Eidesvik Offshore, asserts, “By rejuvenating our fleet with a low-emission, cost-effective, and adaptable vessel, we reaffirm our commitment to executing our strategic vision. This vessel, alongside the potential for four additional units, augments our capacity and competitive advantage within the evolving energy landscape.”

The vessel’s construction will unfold at the esteemed Sefine Shipyard in Turkey. Collaborating with designer NSK Ship Design, Agalas has engineered a vessel characterized by unparalleled flexibility, contemporary design, comfort, and functionality. Spanning 99.9 meters in length and 21 meters in breadth, the vessel can accommodate up to 100 personnel. With a robust 150-metric tonne heave-compensated crane and an expansive deck area spanning approximately 900 square meters, it is tailor-made for efficient IMR and construction undertakings.

This strategic partnership signifies a pivotal move towards sustainable maritime operations, bolstering efficiency and competitiveness in the burgeoning subsea and offshore wind markets.
