In a strategic move to bolster its operations in one of Europe’s key trading hubs, FedEx Express Europe, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), one of the world’s largest express transportation company, has unveiled plans to construct logistics facility in Dublin, Ireland. The facility, strategically located in the Horizon Business Park south of Dublin Airport, is poised to serve as the new FedEx headquarters in Ireland.

This expansion signifies FedEx’s commitment to a major global trading market. With Ireland having exported over €165 billion worth of goods in 2021.

The forthcoming facility boasts a spacious warehouse covering an impressive 14,561 square meters, equipped with 30 loading bays for trucks and an additional 137 loading bays tailored for vans, streamlining the loading and unloading of shipments. What’s more, the facility incorporates an array of design elements aimed at minimizing its environmental footprint. It is set to comply with the Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) standard, a standard akin to achieving a LEED Silver rating. Noteworthy sustainable features include rooftop solar panels, insulated ceiling and wall panels, and double-glazed UV protective windows.

Mike Roche, Managing Director at FedEx Express, Ireland, expressed his enthusiasm about this development, stating, “We are thrilled to announce our expansion in Dublin, which enhances our operations in Ireland and sets us and our customers up for future growth in this important market. This new facility will also enable us to reduce transfer times to and from the airport, meaning we’ll continue to provide fast, reliable service to Irish businesses trading within the domestic market or looking to go global.”

Pending the granting of planning permission, construction is slated to commence in January 2024, with the facility projected to become operational in early 2025. This timeline underscores FedEx’s commitment to swiftly meeting the logistical demands of its customers in Ireland.
