Kuehne+Nagel Breaks Ground for New E-Commerce Fulfilment Centre in Dubai

With the sweltering Dubai sun as a backdrop, Kuehne+Nagel has officially commenced construction on its new e-commerce fulfilment and distribution centre in EZDubai. This significant development marks a strategic move by the logistics giant to strengthen its presence in the Middle East, leveraging Dubai’s prime location and advanced infrastructure.

Nestled in the heart of Dubai South, the new centre is strategically positioned near Al Maktoum International Airport and directly connected to Jebel Ali Port via a bonded logistics corridor. This advantageous placement will undoubtedly enhance trade across the region, offering customers a seamless logistics experience with the added benefit of customs clearance exemptions within the corridor. The goal is clear: to streamline operations and ensure reliability for businesses operating in this bustling trade hub.

Lee I’Ons, GCC+ Cluster Managing Director at Kuehne+Nagel, emphasized the company’s dedication to the UAE and Dubai’s burgeoning economy. “With the development of this new e-commerce fulfilment centre, Kuehne+Nagel continues to show commitment to the UAE and Dubai, supporting one of the fastest growing economies globally,” he remarked. “The new facility brings our customers ease of doing business in Dubai and across the region.”

The groundbreaking ceremony saw enthusiastic participation from key figures in the logistics and development sectors. Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of the Logistics District at Dubai South, expressed his excitement about the new facility. “We are pleased to witness the groundbreaking of Kuehne+Nagel’s new facility, which will be of great added value to the logistics sector. We are committed to reinforcing the company’s expansion and growth, via our advanced services and solutions, and to contribute to Dubai’s position as a global logistics hub.”

The sentiment was echoed by Jonathan Emery, CEO at Aldar Development. He highlighted the collaborative effort to bring this project to fruition, stating, “In line with our strategic focus to deliver Grade A facilities for local and international logistics providers, we are delighted to extend our development expertise to create a state-of-the-art fulfilment centre for Kuehne+Nagel at Dubai South, one of the most well-connected logistics hubs in the UAE.”

The new fulfilment centre is not just a marvel of logistics efficiency but also a testament to sustainable design. Adhering to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver requirements, the facility will offer over 23,000 square meters of cutting-edge warehousing space, equivalent to approximately 45,000 pallet positions. This massive capacity is designed to meet the growing demands of e-commerce and provide a comprehensive range of value-added services to customers.

Scheduled to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2025, the centre is a joint development effort by Dubai South and Aldar Properties. As construction progresses, it stands as a beacon of Kuehne+Nagel’s ambitious Roadmap 2026, aimed at driving growth and innovation in the logistics sector.

This new facility represents more than just a building; it symbolizes a forward-thinking approach to logistics in one of the world’s most dynamic regions. As the industry continues to evolve, Kuehne+Nagel’s investment in Dubai South is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of global trade.
