In a significant boost to Türkiye’s port operations, Liebherr has successfully delivered one of four new ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, marking another chapter in its ongoing expansion in the region. Assembled in Ceyport, these cranes embarked on a coastal journey before arriving at their new home at MARPORT, one of Türkiye’s key container terminals.
The delivery showcases a seamless blend of East meeting West, highlighting the growing collaboration in the maritime industry. With an impressive outreach of 73 meters and a lifting height of 54 meters, these new STS cranes are designed to significantly enhance container handling capabilities at MARPORT. Such specifications enable them to handle the largest container ships in the world, speeding up operations and increasing efficiency — vital in a world where every second counts.
These state-of-the-art cranes are expected to revolutionize the flow of goods through the port, providing a much-needed upgrade to meet the increasing demand for container handling in Türkiye. The strategic decision to assemble the cranes at Ceyport before transporting them to MARPORT demonstrates the logistical expertise and careful planning behind this delivery.
Liebherr’s commitment to enhancing maritime operations continues to be evident in their latest undertaking.
