Mammoet Successfully Completes Sheybarah Island Resort Project in Collaboration with Red Sea Global

Mammoet, the global heavyweight in engineered heavy lifting and transport, proudly announces the successful completion of its scope for the Sheybarah Island resort, in collaboration with Red Sea Global. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the grand tapestry of the Red Sea destination, recognized as the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism endeavor.

The recently concluded project, initiated with the contract signing in May 2022, involved the transportation and installation of 73 prefabricated villa orbs from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, to Sheybarah Island in the Saudi Red Sea. This transformative journey reached its pinnacle with the installation of the last villa, solidifying Mammoet’s commitment to precision and excellence in engineered heavy lifting.

Mammoet’s expertise was evident from the outset, overseeing the entire factory-to-foundation process with finesse. The hyper-luxury hotel, crafted by Killa Design, boasts uniquely shaped overwater and beach villas, front-of-house, and F&B buildings that now seamlessly grace Sheybarah Island’s landscape—a habitat teeming with mangroves, white sand dunes, and vibrant coral reefs.

The installation of the final villa is more than a mere culmination; it is a testament to Mammoet’s dedication to executing complex projects with finesse. The utilization of tailor-made solutions, including the deployment of a 650t capacity Demag CC3800 crawler crane on Mammoet’s modified barge, ALE 250, underscores Mammoet’s commitment to minimal environmental impact.

Mammoet’s partner, Combifloat, played a pivotal role in this eco-friendly initiative, contributing a retrofitted 300t spud jacking system. This, coupled with the shallow draft of the barge, ensured minimal disruption to the delicate marine environment during the installation process. Precision engineering, hyper-accurate GPS systems, and locally controlled jacking mechanisms collectively contributed to the flawless placement of the overwater villas onto their foundations.

The Red Sea, a cornerstone in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 giga project, encompasses 28,000 square kilometers and is poised to significantly boost the country’s GDP while supporting economic diversification and generating employment opportunities. The successful installation of all orbs on Sheybarah Island Resort marks a pivotal moment in the realization of this visionary project.
