Mammoet’s Chief Commercial Officer Steps Down

With the integration of Mammoet and ALE well established, Chief Commercial Officer Michael Birch has decided to step down from his position as of January, 2021. Darren Adams takes over responsibility for Mammoet’s commercial functions.

A year has now passed since the day Mammoet and ALE joined forces to create the world’s leading provider of engineered heavy lifting. The integration of the two former companies has now been completed, and they are now moving into the next phase of Mammoet’s development.

“Michael joined us from ALE and committed himself to supporting Mammoet in the first year of integration as CCO in the EBM. Michael’s experience was instrumental during the integration process…We are grateful for Michael’s contributions and are happy to announce that he will remain available to Mammoet as a Commercial Advisor to the Board for the next three to six months.”

Darren Adams, Advisor to the Board, will take on the responsibilities for the global commercial functions of Sales, Business Development and Marketing & Communication, reporting to Jan Kleijn, Chief Operating Officer.

Darren has nearly thirty years of experience in the heavy lifting and transport industry and worked both for Mammoet and ALE in senior commercial roles.

On behalf of the EBM I would like to thank Michael for his contributions over the last year. His valuable perspective has helped the integration to run smoothly and his market insight has supported our further commercial development. We wish him all the best for the future”, said Paul van Gelder.

Michael Birch added “Following the successful integration process, I have taken the decision to step down from Mammoet’s EBM. The integration has gone as smoothly as we could have imagined. The business has dealt incredibly well with the pandemic over the past twelve months and is now in a strong position for the future. Mammoet is a great place to work and I would like to wish all my Mammoet colleagues the very best for the future.”
