Memphis-Based Barnhart Crane Expands Operations, Acquires Baxter Crane

Memphis-based Barnhart Crane and Rigging Co. has announced the successful acquisition of Baxter Crane and Rigging of Tupelo. This marks the second significant acquisition for Barnhart in recent weeks, highlighting the company’s commitment to expansion and growth.

The acquisition encompasses Baxter’s crane rental service, cutting-edge equipment, and a team of skilled professionals. While the financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, the move underscores Barnhart’s strategic vision to broaden its service portfolio and geographical reach.

Shane Bills, District Manager at Barnhart, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Baxter Crane and Rigging has been a prominent player in crane rental and heavy rigging services in north Mississippi since 2005. This acquisition not only aligns with our expansion strategy but also enhances our capabilities in transporting and setting machinery, millwright work, and lowboys.”

This latest addition represents Barnhart’s third field office in the state, complementing existing services offered by the company’s locations in Columbus and Jackson. The move strategically positions Barnhart to better serve clients in the region, fortifying its foothold in the competitive lifting and logistics industry.

Bo Baxter, President of Baxter Crane, expressed confidence in the acquisition, stating, “We believe Barnhart is the perfect fit for us, not only because of their extensive resources but because of their work philosophy and how they treat their customers and employees.” This sentiment highlights the importance of cultural alignment and shared values in successful business mergers.

Barnhart, recognized as one of America’s leading lifting and logistics contractors, operates a vast network of nearly 60 facilities across the nation. The company specializes in crane rental, rigging services, outage planning, and provides tailored solutions for component replacement, industrial storage, and national project cargo logistics.

With its continuous expansion efforts, Barnhart aims to reinforce its position as an industry leader, leveraging its expertise and resources to offer unparalleled services to clients across diverse sectors. As the company widens its footprint, the acquisition of Baxter Crane signifies a strategic step toward consolidating its presence in the southeastern market.
