Norlat Shipping Ltd. AS, headquartered in Sarpsborg, Norway, has announced the launch of a new regular service from Bremen to the US East coast and the Gulf of Mexico.
The new service will focus on large volumes of breakbulk goods such as forestry and steel products. The first departure is scheduled from Bremen at the beginning of June.
The company, whose origins go back to 1907, has been operating with its own and chartered ships for around 30 years, mainly from Scandinavia to North Africa and the USA. In addition to the headquarters, there are branches in Bergen, Norway, and Gothenburg, Sweden.
For BLG LOGISTICS and the Neustädter Hafen, the start of the new service is an important signal: “Traffic to North America has always been a backbone for the Bremen ports. Norlat’s decision to regularly serve the Neustadt port and to make a new offer to established cargo customers here is very gratifying and will make a significant contribution to maintaining our position for this trade,” says Sven Riekers, sales manager for breakbulk activities the BLG Group.
“Many years of personal experience with the terminal, its employees and the customers served there made it easy for us to choose Bremen,” comments Thomas Johansen, Senior Chartering Manager at Norlat Shipping. “We are familiar with the structures there and appreciate the operative competence of BLG. These are the best prerequisites for being able to make our new service attractive for customers.”
