Osprey, a leading player in specialist logistics, has taken a significant step towards sustainability with its latest investment in four 6-axle Self-Propelled Modular Transport (SPMT) units, accompanied by three Z180 Power Pack Units (PPUs). This strategic move reinforces Osprey’s commitment to eco-friendly solutions in the project cargo and logistics domain.

Osprey enhances its capabilities with the acquisition of four 6-axle SPMT units, expanding its fleet to over 100 axle lines in the UK.

The new SPMT units not only increase Osprey’s fleet capacity but also feature solid fill tires designed to elevate axle loadings. This advancement ensures that clients have access to a larger pool of SPMT axles within the UK, addressing the growing emphasis on sustainability in project management.

In an industry where traditional technology prevails, Osprey’s decision to integrate these modern SPMT units showcases a forward-thinking approach. While many logistics companies may consider retro-fitting as a future option, Osprey’s latest additions signify a tangible and immediate shift towards greener practices, aligning with contemporary environmental standards.

Dean Graham, Operations & QHSE Director at Osprey, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “The growth of our SPMT fleet complements our existing full scope of services covering installations, heavy cranes, and barge activities – these axles are here, ready to use. AdBlue technology, incorporated in the units, significantly reduces engine emissions, contributing to a healthier environment.”

Osprey’s 25-year marine heritage adds a layer of expertise to their operations, particularly in transporting oversized critical assets. The new SPMT units not only enhance the firm’s capabilities but also align with Osprey’s Environmental and sustainability model, crucial for project managers aiming to meet their ESG targets.

This investment is a positive development for Osprey, marking a milestone in their journey towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious logistics approach.
