Roll Group has launched a new project office and laydown yard in Saint Gabriel, Louisiana. This marks a significant step in the company’s Americas expansion, aimed at delivering faster, localized engineered heavy lift and logistics solutions to clients in key industrial sectors.

The new facility comprises a 2,160-square-foot office building and a 3-acre storage and laydown area, with access to an additional 5 acres for future maintenance and operational needs. Positioned near the Mississippi River and Louisiana’s industrial corridors, the location enables quicker deployment of assets and closer support for large-scale energy, petrochemical, and infrastructure projects.

Local roots, global capabilities

We’ve always strived to serve the market, as 10% of the petroleum industry lies between Lake Charles and New Orleans,” said Gary Summers, a 45-year veteran of the logistics industry and part of Roll Group’s U.S. operations since their inception. “Now we’re not only serving the market—we’re local.”

Summers emphasized that proximity to major clients allows the company to be more than just a contractor. “We can be part of the community, part of the culture,” he added, noting that local presence drives faster response and deeper engagement with projects on the ground.

Supporting industrial demand in the Gulf

Louisiana remains a critical hub for the North American petroleum supply chain. The stretch between Lake Charles and New Orleans is home to refineries, chemical plants, and ongoing energy transition projects, all of which demand reliable and specialized transport and lifting capabilities. By establishing a permanent presence, Roll Group aims to reduce project complexity for clients while improving lead times and risk management.

Michael Crawford, Commercial Manager for the new Louisiana office, underscored the significance of the investment. “This office opens up more opportunities and territory for Roll Group to grow and succeed. It puts us in a whole new category.”

Crawford, a Louisiana native with more than two decades in the industry, added, “The culture is good. The people are good. The work is out there—it’s tremendous. Being local allows us to respond faster and work more efficiently with clients.”

Engineered solutions backed by owned assets

Roll Group differentiates itself with an integrated land-sea approach and a strong asset base. The company owns and operates a global fleet of heavy lift vessels—including dock-type ships with Ro-Ro, Flo-Flo, and Lo-Lo capabilities—and a growing range of modular hydraulic trailers, lattice boom cranes, gantry lifting systems, and jacking equipment.

This vertically integrated model allows Roll Group to manage entire transport and lifting scopes—from fabrication yard to final destination—with fewer handovers and tighter control of safety, schedule, and cost. In-house engineering teams support both land and marine operations, tailoring each solution to the cargo, route, and project timeline.

For modular cargo in particular, Roll Group’s experience enables synchronized operations that reduce interface risk. Whether it’s refinery components, reactors, or pre-assembled modules, the company’s systems are designed to accommodate large-scale movement while meeting strict regulatory and logistical requirements.

Scaling for the region’s growth

The Saint Gabriel office will offer full project management, technical engineering, and client services while also serving as a base for local employment and training. As the Gulf Coast continues to attract capital investment across traditional and renewable energy sectors, the facility positions Roll Group to serve as a long-term partner for industrial development.

Equipment investments at the site are tailored to regional project profiles, including load-out, transport, and final installation capabilities suited to the area’s infrastructure. The company’s strategy aligns with anticipated growth in U.S. Gulf port throughput and the continued evolution of integrated logistics services.

With multiple assets already mobilized and operations underway, Roll Group is now embedded in one of North America’s most active heavy transport corridors—ready to support both legacy industries and new energy initiatives with precision and consistency.
