Seaonics ECMC 3D Crane to Enhance Norwind Offshore Vessel

Moveing towards enhancing operational capabilities, Norwind Offshore has placed an order for Seaonics’ ECMC 7t-3D crane for their newbuild 952 – Norwind Helm. Following the recent delivery of Seaonics’ first electric gangway system to Norwind Hurricane on March 21, 2024, this new order underscores Norwind’s commitment to advanced maritime technologies.

The installation of the crane is slated to coincide with the delivery of the newbuild from Vard Brattvaag by the end of November 2024. Notably, Norwind Helm will mark a milestone as the first CSOV (Construction Service Operation Vessel) equipped with two 3D cranes. This additional delivery supplements the ECMC Gangway with an integrated 3D crane, already slated for the same vessel. The crane is scheduled for delivery and commissioning during the summer months.

The Seaonics ECMC Crane stands out for its fully electric-driven operation, aligning with industry efforts towards sustainability. Developed by Seaonics, the control technology for active motion compensation has demonstrated its effectiveness in offshore wind operations. With electric-driven boom control, slew control, and telescope control, the crane offers dynamic 3D compensation at the crane tip, enhancing operational efficiency.

Håkon Fauske, Managing Director at Seaonics, underlined the positive market reception of the ECMC 3D Crane, affirming Seaonics’ strategic focus on electrifying lift and handling equipment. He stated, “The positive market reception of the ECMC 3D Crane validates our strategic focus on electrifying lift and handling equipment.”

This partnership between Seaonics and Norwind Offshore exemplifies the industry’s concerted efforts towards technological advancement and sustainability.
