Seaway7 Secures Major Contract for East Anglia TWO Offshore Wind Project

Seaway7, part of Subsea7 Group, has landed a significant contract to handle the transportation and installation of inter-array cables for ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm. This prestigious deal is part of a large-scale, £4 billion initiative aimed at powering nearly one million UK homes with clean energy. Set approximately 33 kilometers off the east coast of England in the Southern North Sea, East Anglia TWO is among three consented developments within the East Anglia Hub, collectively planned to provide up to 4,000 MW of renewable energy.

The contract will see Seaway7 lead engineering, supply, and installation efforts for 64 inter-array cables essential to the project’s infrastructure. Notably, Seaway7’s Aberdeen office will coordinate this complex scope of work, with offshore activities expected to commence in 2027. The award highlights the company’s established presence in the UK’s renewable energy sector and reinforces its collaborative relationship with ScottishPower Renewables. As East Anglia TWO joins the ongoing East Anglia THREE project, both companies anticipate significant contributions to the UK’s renewable energy goals.

Seaway7 CEO Stuart Fitzgerald expressed confidence in the project’s impact, noting, “This award builds upon our leading position in the UK and represents a significant contribution to the UK’s renewable target.” His remarks underscore Seaway7’s commitment to supporting the country’s ambitious green energy objectives while strengthening its strategic partnership with ScottishPower Renewables.

Similarly, ScottishPower Renewables’ CEO, Charlie Jordan, praised the quick progress in securing East Anglia TWO’s supply chain, signaling readiness for project execution. “It’s great to confirm so much of our supply chain for East Anglia TWO on the back of achieving our CfD,” Jordan stated, referring to the recent contracts for difference (CfD) secured in September 2024. This support from the UK Government marks a vital step toward a sustainable energy future, enabling the East Anglia Hub to move forward in its mission to bring renewable power to the region.

In Subsea7’s terminology, a “substantial contract” falls within the USD 150 million to USD 300 million range, underscoring the project’s scale and investment level. With these contractual details confirmed, Seaway7 and ScottishPower Renewables stand poised to make meaningful advancements in the UK’s offshore wind capabilities, paving the way for long-term environmental benefits.
