Subsea7 Secures Major Contract for Trion Development Offshore Mexico

Subsea7, a leading provider of offshore construction services, has been awarded a significant contract by Woodside Energy for the Trion development project offshore Mexico. This venture marks a crucial milestone in the collaboration between Woodside Energy and Pemex, demonstrating a commitment to advancing deepwater exploration and production in the region.

The Trion field, situated approximately 30 kilometers south of the US/Mexico border and 180 kilometers off the Mexican coastline, presents unique challenges due to its water depth of 2,600 meters. In this context, Subsea7’s expertise in subsea installation services becomes pivotal for the successful execution of the project.

The scope of the contract entails the engineering, construction, and installation of subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines, along with the associated subsea architecture. These critical components will facilitate the connectivity of a wet tree subsea system to an infield Floating Production Unit (FPU), enabling efficient hydrocarbon extraction from the Trion field.

Immediate project management and engineering activities will commence from Subsea7’s offices in the United States and Mexico. The offshore phase is scheduled to occur between 2026 and 2027, underscoring the meticulous planning and coordination required for such complex undertakings.

Craig Broussard, Vice President for Subsea7 Gulf of Mexico, expressed pride in the company’s longstanding partnership with Woodside Energy, stating, “This award acknowledges our strong partnership with Woodside globally. With our experience in the Gulf of Mexico and proven track record, we can deliver innovative, reliable, fast-tracked solutions that create value for our clients. We are proud to be a part of Woodside and Pemex’s first deepwater development in Mexico.”

This contract not only highlights Subsea7’s capabilities in executing large-scale offshore projects but also signifies the continued expansion of deepwater exploration and production activities in the Mexican offshore sector. As the energy industry evolves, collaborations such as these play a pivotal role in unlocking new reserves and driving sustainable growth.
