ROYAL WAGENBORG has presented its 2022 Annual Sustainability Report. It’s commendable that their sustainability results align with their sustainability strategy and demonstrate progress on various environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.
Firmly on track to reduce 40% CO2 by 2030
The supply chain disruptions had a negative impact on regular trading patterns and routes, as vessels had to deviate to alternative ports or sail at higher speed to make up for lost time. Still, the company managed to keep their customer promises and get their commodities to the market whilst realising a decrease of their relative CO₂ emissions with -3,2% compared to 2021.
In 2022, Wagenborg continued actions in fuel efficiency resulting in the improved energy efficiency of their fleet, which has changed to 20,45 gCO₂/t[nm] in 2022 (2021: 21,12). Compared to 2008 the reduction of CO2 emissions per ton mile in 2022 amounted to 25,6% (2021: 23,2%). Wagenborg is proud of this outcome since they have already achieved their target for 2024.
