AAL SHIPPING EMBRACES ANTI-CORRUPTION STANDARDS IN GLOBAL SHIPPING

Felix Schoeller, Director of AAL

AAL Shipping, a prominent heavyweight in the project cargo sector, has recently thrown its weight behind the fight against corruption by joining the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN). This move highlights AAL’s commitment to fostering transparency and fair trade practices within the maritime industry across the globe.

Established in 2011 with a modest coalition, MACN has now expanded its influence, boasting over 190 member companies worldwide. AAL’s decision to join this network signifies a collaborative effort among industry leaders to eliminate corruption and establish uniform trade standards worldwide.

Felix Schoeller, Director of AAL and a member of its Sustainability Committee, emphasized the importance of good governance in aligning with AAL’s corporate ethics. He stated, “Joining the MACN was a fundamental requirement in protecting the interests of our customers and supply chain partners, no matter where in the world they operate. AAL is committed to harmonizing the strictest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards across our operations and global network.”

In expressing enthusiasm for the partnership, Schoeller added, “AAL is looking forward to being an active member of this organization. The MACN is incredibly proactive in raising standards amongst its membership to help fight corruption, but also in harnessing its collective power to lobby for change and fair-trade principles.”

Cecilia Muller Torbrand, CEO of the MACN, welcomed AAL Shipping into the fold, stating, “We are delighted to welcome AAL Shipping to the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network and are looking forward to its active engagement in the Network.”

Beyond its commitment to anti-corruption measures, AAL has positioned itself as a pioneer in sustainable practices and ethical business conduct. The company has also taken a firm stance on international sanctions adherence and, notably, was the first multipurpose project heavy lift carrier to implement measures ahead of the European Union Emission Trading Scheme (EUETS) launch on January 1, 2024.

In a landscape where global collaboration is key, AAL Shipping’s alliance with MACN underscores the industry’s dedication to ethical conduct, ensuring a level playing field for all stakeholders involved.
