JAXPORT and Enstructure Forge Strategic Partnership for Terminal Expansion

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has paved the way for significant expansion by greenlighting a 30-year agreement with US marine terminal and logistics company, Enstructure. This groundbreaking deal, approved unanimously by the JAXPORT Board of Directors, focuses on the lease and development of a substantial 79-acre waterfront property at JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal.

Enstructure, the parent company of Seaonus Stevedoring, a current JAXPORT tenant, is set to strengthen its presence at the Talleyrand terminal, operating a total of 115 acres upon the completion of the agreement. Seaonus, with a commendable 27-year history as a JAXPORT tenant, currently manages 35 acres of adjacent space.

The expansion is slated to commence in late 2025, coinciding with the relocation of the current tenant, Southeast Toyota Distributors, to the port’s Blount Island Marine Terminal.

The newly acquired 79-acre property will transform into a versatile mixed-use facility with the capacity to handle a diverse range of cargo types, including breakbulk, dry bulk, vehicles, and containers. Enstructure, in line with the agreement, is committed to developing a minimum of 200,000 square feet of on-terminal warehousing at Talleyrand. This addition is anticipated to bolster JAXPORT’s on-terminal covered capacity by 20%, specifically catering to non-containerized cargo such as forest products.

The financial commitment involved in this transformative initiative is substantial, with a $136 million lease agreement in place with JAXPORT over the 30-year term.

Co-CEOs of Enstructure, Matthew Satnick, and Philippe De Montigny expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Expanding our Talleyrand Marine Terminal operations is a strategic priority for Enstructure, and we look forward to working closely with the JAXPORT team to further diversify our cargo mix.”

JAXPORT CEO, Eric Green, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of cargo diversification and supporting the growth of a longstanding terminal operator. Green stated, “Enstructure is one of our longest-standing tenants, and we are proud to support their continued success in Jacksonville.”

This strategic move aligns with JAXPORT’s commitment to enhancing cargo handling capabilities and attracting new shipping routes. Notably, in December 2023, Ocean Network Express (ONE) unveiled its West India North America (WIN) container service, directly connecting JAXPORT with ports in Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and Egypt.

As JAXPORT and Enstructure join forces, the maritime and logistics landscape in Jacksonville is poised for a significant transformation, ushering in a new era of operational efficiency and cargo diversity.
