Dole Food Company, in collaboration with Enstructure, a leading U.S. marine terminal and logistics company, has unveiled plans to enhance its shipping services to Port Wilmington in Delaware. This move, marked by the introduction of a second weekly service, aims to amplify the capacity for tropical fresh fruits and general cargo imported from Colombia, Honduras, and Guatemala to the Mid-Atlantic region.
Matthew Satnick and Philippe De Montigny, Co-CEOs of Enstructure, expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting Dole’s integral role at Port Wilmington over the past 40 years. “Dole’s collaborative approach to growth and commitment to operational excellence at the Port has been commendable,” they noted. The new service not only supports Dole’s expansion but also contributes to ongoing investments in Port infrastructure, fortifying the local workforce.
Nelson Montoya, President of Dole Fresh Fruit North America, shared his pride in the expansion, stating, “With Enstructure’s support, we’re proud to expand a second service to Port Wilmington.” He emphasized that the additional service, initiated on December 31, 2023, would facilitate wider accessibility to high-quality, fresh produce, aligning with Dole’s mission of promoting global health.
The second weekly service involves the deployment of a 1,200 FEU container vessel, operating in rotation between Port Wilmington and South America. This strategic move aims to meet the growing demand for Dole’s renowned fresh fruits, including their signature Dole-branded produce.
