Development in the maritime and logistics sector, C. Steinweg – Handelsveem B.V., a renowned player in the industry, has inked a substantial agreement with the Port of Rotterdam. The deal, signed at Pier 6 in Rotterdam’s Waalhaven, marks a pivotal moment in the expansion plans of both parties.

Representatives from C. Steinweg – Handelsveem B.V., led by Peter Pesselse, CEO of the Netherlands division, and Matthijs van Doorn, Vice President Commercial of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, participated in the signing ceremony. This agreement signifies the culmination of extensive planning and negotiation between the two entities.

The negotiations were meticulous, considering various stakeholders’ interests, including local residents, clients of Steinweg, and adherence to environmental and legislative mandates. Notably, the long-term sustainability of the terminal remained a focal point throughout the deliberations.

The leased site spans an expansive 46 hectares and is poised for transformation into a multipurpose terminal. This ambitious redevelopment project will boast approximately 28,000 square meters of warehousing space, alongside 1700 meters of quayside infrastructure. Furthermore, the terminal will feature railheads extending over 1500 meters, enhancing connectivity and logistics efficiency.

One of the standout features of this development is the fully flexible stevedoring offering. Equipped with five cranes capable of lifting between 50 to 150 metric tons, the terminal promises seamless handling of various cargo types, catering to diverse industry needs.

This strategic move underscores C. Steinweg – Handelsveem B.V.’s commitment to growth and innovation within the maritime and logistics landscape. By securing this long-term lease agreement, the company positions itself as a key player in Rotterdam’s thriving port ecosystem, poised to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the global trade arena.
