Air France KLM Martinair Cargo Introduces Koalas to the Netherlands

In a heartwarming moment today, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo made history by bringing the first-ever koalas to Dutch soil. These adorable marsupials, hailing from Los Angeles, were transported to their new home at Ouwehands Dierenpark in Rhenen, marking a significant milestone for wildlife enthusiasts across the country.

The trio of koalas arrived at Schiphol Airport this morning, greeted by eager onlookers and a team dedicated to ensuring their safe passage. Secured in a specially designed environment within the aircraft’s cargo hold, the koalas embarked on their journey to “Koalia,” their custom-built habitat at Ouwehands Zoo.

Notably, this isn’t the first time Air France KLM Martinair Cargo has facilitated such a remarkable relocation. In 2017, the airline transported giant pandas from China to the Netherlands, underscoring their commitment to supporting conservation efforts and fostering cultural exchange through wildlife.

The koalas will now undergo a period of adjustment as they acclimate to their new surroundings, with “Koalia” set to open its doors to the public on April 25th. This initiative not only enriches the zoo’s offerings but also contributes to global conservation endeavors by raising awareness about these iconic Australian creatures.

As the world celebrates this momentous occasion, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo reaffirms its dedication to responsible logistics and its role in facilitating meaningful connections between species and continents.
