Alfa Laval Secures Key Role in Maersk’s Methanol Retrofit Project

Alfa Laval has been selected by Maersk for a pivotal methanol retrofit project. This project highlights the viability of adapting existing vessels for methanol-based propulsion. The chosen solution, Alfa Laval’s fuel supply system, FCM Methanol, is set to transform the 15,000 TEU container vessel, Maersk Halifax, into a green methanol-powered ship with dual-fuel capabilities.

Driving the Industry Transition

Alfa Laval’s continuous commitment to fuel transition in the maritime sector takes a leap forward with this project. Leveraging its extensive knowledge and experience in methanol solutions, the company aims to cater to the unique requirements of both new and existing vessels. The collaboration with Maersk underscores Alfa Laval’s role as a frontrunner in embracing innovative methods for decarbonization within the industry.
