AtoB@C Shipping Enhances Fleet Sustainability with Delivery of Stellamar

AtoB@C Shipping, a subsidiary under the umbrella of ESL Shipping, has marked a significant milestone on April 5, as it welcomed the delivery of Stellamar, the second vessel in its series of twelve plug-in hybrid general cargo vessels. This delivery signals a bold step towards sustainability and efficiency in maritime transportation.

Stellamar stands as a testament to innovative design and eco-conscious engineering. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, this state-of-the-art vessel boasts the capability to slash CO2 emissions by up to 50% compared to its predecessors. This achievement is made possible through its integration of shore power connectivity and a sizable battery installation, ensuring a quieter and cleaner operation, particularly during port stays.

“We have listened to our customers and developed vessels that suit their needs and expectations. Our customers value our reliability, quality, and environmental performance, and we are happy to offer them these next-generation electric hybrid vessels that will enhance our service offering and competitiveness,” states Frida Rowland, Commercial Director at AtoB@C Shipping.

Stellamar is purposefully designed to accommodate a diverse array of cargo, including bulk and breakbulk products like steel, forest products, fertilizers, and project cargoes. With a spacious, unobstructed deck, it facilitates the loading of more deck cargo and longer project cargoes compared to existing vessels in the fleet. Moreover, strategically locating the crew accommodation and bridge at the bow optimizes cargo capacity while enhancing visibility and navigation safety.

Upon its arrival in Europe, Stellamar will mark the first vessel sold to a company formed by private and institutional investors. Operating within the Green Coaster Pool, all vessels in this series will be managed by AtoB@C Shipping, ensuring a commitment to sustainable maritime practices.

AtoB@C Shipping’s investment in sustainable shipping solutions extends beyond Stellamar. The company has placed an order for twelve plug-in hybrid vessels from Chowgule & Company, a testament to its dedication to embracing environmentally-friendly technologies. With the first vessel, Electramar, already delivered in December and seven more vessels currently under construction, AtoB@C Shipping solidifies its position as a frontrunner in the maritime industry’s transition towards a greener future.

As AtoB@C Shipping continues to expand its fleet with eco-friendly vessels, it not only meets the evolving needs of its customers but also sets a standard for sustainability within the maritime sector.
