BigLift and RollDock End Joint Venture

Breakbulk carriers BigLift Shipping and Rolldock Shipping are to end their joint venture company BigRoll Shipping from the start of next year.

The joint venture will cease operation on Jan. 1, 2018 when the module carrying vessels BigLift Barentsz and BigLift Baffin will join BigLift’s fleet. Both vessels feature flush decks of 125 by 42 meters, designed to handle large module shipments, cranes and other voluminous cargo.

“The fleet-expansion expresses BigLift’s commitment to the heavy transport market … Ongoing contracts and tenders of BigRoll Shipping will still be executed in cooperation with Rolldock Shipping,” a spokesperson for BigLift said.

BigLift Shipping is a member of Spliethoff Group and operates a fleet of 14 heavy-lift vessels with lifting capacities up to 1,800 tonnes. The firm also plans to add a third Happy S-type vessel in 2018.
