BigLift Successfully Mounts Luffing Harbour Cranes in French Guyana Project

BigLift, heavy lift and project cargo specialist, has successfully completed the transportation and mounting of one and a half level Luffing Harbour Cranes from Taicang, China, to Degrad des Cannes, the primary port in French Guyana. This intricate operation was executed in collaboration with AES (Automatismes Etudes Services/Dinson), marking another milestone in the company’s portfolio of complex cargo projects.

Smooth Sailing from Taicang to Degrad des Cannes

At the Runhe Terminal in Taicang, the crane components arrived via two barges and were meticulously loaded onto the transport vessel using Happy Star’s own heavy lift cranes. The seamless coordination between BigLift and its partners ensured the secure handling and transportation of these vital components.

Precision Mounting with Synchoist Cylinders

Upon arrival at Degrad des Cannes, the crane assemblies underwent a meticulous mounting process on the gantries. BigLift employed its cutting-edge Synchoist Cylinders, hydraulic cylinders with a robust lifting capacity of 250t/cylinder, featuring a 1m stroke and operability even under load. This technology ensured a level lift during the installation process, emphasizing safety and precision.

High-Flying Assembly Maneuvers

To mount the crane assembly onto the gantry, the Happy Star hoisted the components an impressive 30 meters above the quayside. The gantry, skillfully driven underneath, engaged in a delicate dance with the heavy lift cranes. Precise maneuvering, with the assistance of Dinson personnel, led to the alignment of flanges, securing the Harbour Cranes with 80 bolts.

Collaborative Success and Safe Disconnection

The collaboration between BigLift, Happy Star, and Dinson personnel proved pivotal in the success of these installations. Post-installation, the heavy lift rigging was safely disconnected from the crane assembly. A large cherry picker and a rope access team from Kwata played essential roles in this meticulous disconnection process.

This achievement underscores BigLift’s prowess in managing complex maritime projects, further solidifying its position as a leader in the heavy lift and project cargo industry
