Blue Water demonstrates efficient project management in the widest transport ever undertaken at the Port of Esbjerg.
Their Heavy Modular Transporter team recently completed a successful transport of blade racks with a challenging size at the Port of Esbjerg. The client requested this transport due to their expertise as a Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT).
To accomplish this special transport, a great deal of project management was required to find the best solution and execute the relocation successfully. The team’s tasks included conducting a route survey, making necessary modifications to the route, preparing for the transport and finally carrying out the transportation.
Experience and vast knowledge of the Port of Esbjerg
The uniqueness of this transport was primarily due to the width of the cargo, which posed a challenge for the team. In fact, it was the widest transport ever done along an 8.25-kilometre route at the Port of Esbjerg. The team identified critical areas along the route and determined the modifications needed for the transport. This involved dismantling gates, signs and fences along the route, as well as setting up 24/7 guards at various points to maintain the port’s security.
The entire project, from route assignment to performance by Blue Water’s Port Service team, was completed in just nine days. Jacob Thomsen, Project Lead, Port Services Operations adds, “Our experienced team and extensive knowledge of the Port of Esbjerg allowed us to execute and complete the project within such a short timeframe.”
