Chapman Freeborn OBC Takes Strides in Carbon Reduction and Climate Projects

In a significant move towards environmental responsibility, Chapman Freeborn On Board Courier (OBC), a key player in time-critical on-board courier solutions, has unveiled its financial commitment to global carbon reduction and climate contribution projects. As part of the Avia Solutions Group, the company is aligning itself with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure global prosperity by 2030.

Supporting Sustainable Initiatives

Chapman Freeborn OBC is utilizing the sustainability management platform WAVES to calculate emissions from all journeys, whether by air or road. The financial support is directed towards projects that align with SDGs and contribute to carbon neutrality. The projects encompass diverse geographical areas and initiatives:

  • Sichuan Rural Poor-Household Biogas Development Programme (China): Backing one million low-income rural households with biogas digesters and cookstoves.
  • Utsil Naj – Healthy Homes for All (Mexico): Distributing cookstoves in vulnerable Mexican communities to enhance living conditions.
  • Ouarzazate II Concentrated Solar Power Project (Morocco): Generating local solar electricity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels.
  • Bikes for the Planet (Brazil): Expanding bike lanes and sharing programs in Rio de Janeiro to offer an eco-friendly transportation alternative.

Beyond Carbon Reduction

Apart from contributing to carbon reduction, these projects have a positive impact on local communities and promote economic growth. Chapman Freeborn OBC is also taking strides to make its office locations more sustainable. The Cologne office now relies on 100 percent European-sourced green energy, with 10 percent coming from solar power. Moreover, the company is gradually phasing out petrol cars, with every vehicle added to the fleet in the past two years being electric, petrol, or hybrid.

A Commitment to Impact

Nikolai Bergmann, President of Chapman Freeborn OBC, emphasized the importance of making a meaningful impact. He stated, “It’s not just about taking action; it’s about making a meaningful impact.” By supporting projects that resonate with their values and contribute to environmental and social causes, the company aims to lead by example.

Chapman Freeborn OBC is self-funding these climate contribution and sustainable office projects, ensuring that the associated costs do not burden its customers. As the company continues to prioritize environmental consciousness, it sets a commendable standard for the industry, reinforcing the idea that business and sustainability can go hand in hand.
