CMA CGM and Nike Join Forces for Greener Maritime Transport

CMA CGM Group has proudly announced a strategic collaboration with global sportswear giant Nike to reduce the carbon footprint associated with maritime transport. This initiative is a pivotal step forward in both companies’ commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050 and underscores their dedication to environmentally friendly practices within the supply chain.

A Sustainable Partnership for Progress

Nike, renowned as a leader in the apparel and sportswear industry, has entered into an agreement with CMA CGM to integrate sustainable biofuel into a significant portion of their maritime transport operations. This forward-thinking initiative is poised to play a key role in the larger effort to decarbonize Nike’s extensive supply chain.

Starting from July 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024, Nike will utilize sustainable biofuel for 36% of their volume transported in collaboration with CMA CGM. This targeted approach is expected to result in a substantial reduction of 25,000 tons of CO2 emissions, marking a considerable stride towards achieving greener and more sustainable business operations.

ACT WITH CMA CGM+: Driving Low-Carbon Solutions

Aligned with their commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050, the CMA CGM Group has introduced the ACT WITH CMA CGM+ range of low-carbon solutions. Launched in 2020, this comprehensive offering empowers customers to analyze their environmental footprint and implement impactful measures to reduce carbon emissions.

The ACT WITH CMA CGM+ range includes the utilization of low-carbon alternative energies such as biofuel, LNG, and biomethane. Customers can also offset residual emissions through engagement in various environmental projects, further solidifying their dedication to sustainable practices.

This collaboration exemplifies how industry leaders can come together to drive positive change, emphasizing the importance of shared responsibility in achieving a greener future.
